Financial markets are crashing, businesses slowly unraveling, and schools shutting down; The number of people affected by COVID-19 is rising faster than ever – and the number of deaths, too painful to recount. It's undeniable that the all new coronavirus 2019 (perhaps it's childish to give something as abominable as this virus a nice "all new" movie prefix, but let's face it, we could all use a little laughter in our lives) has wrapped the entire world in a state of rapid change and hysteria and while there are various parts that are out of our control, at least one isn't: providing free access to a quality education to students whose lifestyles have been disrupted.
With this goal in mind, IgniteMinds is working on developing a platform for providing easy to access and reliable education services to effected people. We're working on developing modules focused on STEM education, but which with enough volunteers may be extended to include various other subjects as well. We're thinking of two particular options: creating videos for long-term access and use by users and the possibility of real-time tutoring opportunities for individuals finding it difficult to adapt to this new teaching environment. We're working on contacting honor societies and various other groups in order to clarify upon our ability to provide volunteer hours for your efforts, and would be highly grateful if anyone would be willing to help teach the generation of future leaders.
I envision an environment, where the unavailability of a physical school setting isn't a hindrance, but rather an opportunity to learn and grow, a moment to solidify our transition into a truly virtual stage, and of course, prove to the world that with enough determination, no challenge is impossible to overcome.
